HEY! NO PARKING ON THE LAWN!
It really ticks me off when people can’t park at the curb and drive over my lawn. I’ve had words with my neighbors more than once.

Yeah. You’re good.

Well, on the other hand, this lawn looks like it has some dead patches and has broken out in clover, so I figure lawn owner is giving about zero fucks.

No...the diving board is for diving. Sit on the steps or something.

With a car like that, yes. You can park anywhere you like.

I noticed that too.
Unfortunately, my lawn is a thin veneer of soil on top of a hard pan of clay. The curb is the lowest point, so it stays wet the longest. Driving over it almost always leaves ruts.

From the dryness, predominantly single level construction, tile roofs, etc., I would hazard a wild guess this was in Cali, Florida, or at a stretch Texas. Soil is probably pretty sandy and well settled. Not much like the lawn at my place at all - high water table, clay, lots of rain...

There’s a lawn in this picture?

There are even people behind the ‘56 Sunliner. Crazy, I know.

What I would give to go back to the 50s for just a week. It must have been so interesting

You know, I’m sitting here, looing at that photo, and wondering something similar. Nowadays, we’ve got global terrorism, but back then, they had the Bomb and its use was a very real threat. The Korean War had ended by the time this picture was taken, but another war was not that far off. I guess it’s all to say that we can look back with nostalgia to earlier, simpler times, but in reality, there was just as much angst and fear and societal pressure as there is today. It’s just different. But, as much as I like the Internet, I am nostalgic for the days when there was no Internet. And I
am
old enough to remember that.

I can not really remember pre internet days. Pre social media, amazon, youtube yes, pre internet like email no.
As for the 50’s people tend to forget we had the Sputnik Crisis , Brown v Board decision , battle at Dien Bien Phau , and countless other issues to worry about. It might have been a “better era” but it was by no means a cake walk either.
